Celebrating 15 Years of Romance, Comedy, and Ayakashi
It is hard to believe, but the beloved TV anime adaptation of Cocoa Fujiwara’s Inu x Boku SS is celebrating its 15th anniversary! To commemorate this major milestone, an official 15th-anniversary teaser website has been launched, promising exciting new projects. Along with this, details for a special stage event and touching celebratory comments from the star-studded voice cast and staff have been revealed.
Special Stage Event Confirmed for KPF 2026
Fans will have the chance to celebrate in person during the Kitakyushu Pop Culture Festival (KPF 2026), scheduled for November 28 and 29, 2026. A dedicated 15th-anniversary stage for Inu x Boku SS has been officially confirmed, featuring special guest appearances by:
- Rina Hidaka (voice of Ririchiyo Shirakiin)
- Yoko Hikasa (voice of Nobara Yukinokouji)
Heartfelt Messages from the Cast and Staff
The original voice cast and staff shared their deep affection and nostalgia for the series, reflecting on how much the anime—which originally aired in 2012—means to them today.
- Rina Hidaka (Ririchiyo Shirakiin): “I can’t believe it’s been 15 years… I still vividly remember how much the cast and staff supported me during the recording sessions. I often hear fans say they still love Inu x Boku SS, and it makes me realize how deeply cherished this series continues to be.”
- Yuichi Nakamura (Soushi Miketsukami): “Time flew by so fast, and I’m more surprised than nostalgic. We were much younger back then, but we poured our hearts into it. I hope you’ll rewatch the series and feel the passion we put into our performances.”
- Yoko Hikasa (Nobara Yukinokouji): “It feels like we recorded the anime just yesterday. I often meet female industry staff who tell me they entered the anime business because they watched this show! Let’s celebrate the 20th anniversary together, too! Maniac!”
- Mamoru Miyano (Zange Natsume): “We were all close in age, so recording sessions were incredibly fun. Zange is a very important character to me, and I even perform his character song ‘One Way’ at my own live concerts.”
- Kana Hanazawa (Karuta Roromiya): “I still love Karuta’s sweet, fluffy nature and her kindness toward her friends. When I visited the Inu x Boku exhibition in 2024, I was reminded of how much this series is loved by so many.”
A Look Back at a Supernatural Classic
Originally serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan JOKER starting in 2009, Inu x Boku SS follows Ririchiyo Shirakiin, a socially awkward girl who moves into the high-security “Maison de Ayakashi” mansion. There, she is assigned a dedicated Secret Service bodyguard, Soushi Miketsukami, who turns out to be a nine-tailed fox spirit boundlessly devoted to her. The series perfectly blends supernatural lore, romance, and comedy, securing its place as a timeless fan favorite.
Be sure to keep an eye on the newly launched anniversary website for more updates on upcoming projects!
