A Legendary Return: Magic Knight Rayearth is Back!
Exciting news for classic anime and manga fans! In celebration of the upcoming TV anime adaptation, CLAMP’s legendary masterpiece, Magic Knight Rayearth, has officially started a special reprint serialization in the November issue of Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine, released on October 2.
The Magic of CLAMP
Created by the critically acclaimed creative group CLAMP—the brilliant minds behind iconic titles like Cardcaptor Sakura, Chobits, and xxxHOLiC—Magic Knight Rayearth is a pioneering work that beautifully blends the magical girl and mecha genres.
The story follows three eighth-grade girls—Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji—who meet during a field trip to Tokyo Tower. Suddenly, they are summoned by a mysterious light to the mystical world of Cephiro, a realm where the strength of one’s will dictates reality itself. Destined to become the legendary Magic Knights, they must embark on a perilous journey to save this beautiful yet fading world.
New Anime and Special Merchandise
This nostalgic reprint is the perfect buildup to the brand-new TV anime adaptation, scheduled to premiere on October 7 on the “IMAnimation W” block via TV Asahi and its national network. To double the excitement, several commemorative items are currently available for fans:
- Reprinted Manga Volumes: All six volumes of the original manga are being reprinted with their legendary initial release covers, featuring special full-wrap bands.
- Original Artbooks: The two-volume Magic Knight Rayearth Original Artbook (Reprint Edition) is also back on sale.
More Magic in Nakayoshi’s November Issue
Beyond the return of Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, the November issue of Nakayoshi is packed with other magical and thrilling titles, including:
- Lili Raspberry, Magic Apprentice: Gracing the cover and opening color pages, this royal magical story by Ema Toyama features a cute cosmetic-palette-style sticky note set as a special bonus.
