The Chiikawa Phenomenon Continues!
If you’ve been keeping up with the cutest anime and manga trends out of Japan, you definitely know about Chiikawa. Originally created by illustrator Nagano on X (formerly Twitter) in 2020, the series follows the bittersweet, slightly harsh, but incredibly adorable daily lives of Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi, and their friends. With the anime adaptation racking up over 500 million views on YouTube and the franchise taking Japan by storm, the demand for merchandise has never been higher!
Now, fans have two more reasons to celebrate. Good Smile Company has announced that the fan-favorite characters Kurimanju and Shisa are officially joining the Nendoroid lineup!
Kurimanju: The Alcohol-Loving Chestnut
Known for his middle-aged-man-like love for alcohol and delicious snacks, Kurimanju is finally shrunk down into a cute, magnetic Nendoroid. This figure uses magnets in his limbs, allowing you to pose him seamlessly without awkward joints.
- Expression Plates: A joyful “Smiling Face,” the iconic “Haa- Face” (usually seen after a refreshing sip of beer), and a hilarious “Hangover Face.”
- Key Accessories: A can of beer and a piece of Saketoba (dried salmon jerky) to recreate his perfect drinking moments.
Shisa: The Hardworking Super-Part-Timer
Shisa, the energetic assistant who works hard at the famous ramen shop “Ro,” is also getting the Nendoroid treatment! Like Kurimanju, Shisa features magnetic limbs for natural-looking action poses.
- Expression Plates: A cheerful “Smiling Face,” an “Open-Mouth Face,” and the adorable “Kuya-Shisa Face” (his signature frustrated expression).
- Key Accessories: A delicious-looking bowl of ramen and a book about alcohol (reflecting his studies to get a certified drinking license).
