The Return of the Doting Sword and Cat-Eared Girl
Great news for fans of the “isekai weapon” genre! The highly anticipated second season of Reincarnated as a Sword (known in Japan as Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita II) is officially scheduled to begin broadcasting on October 7, 2026. Along with the air date, the official website has released the synopsis and preview cuts for the premiere episode, titled “The Island Floating in the Sky.”
Based on the popular light novel series by Yuu Tanaka, which has surpassed over 4 million copies in circulation, the anime tells the story of Fran, a young beastgirl of the Black Cat tribe, and her companion “Teacher,” a human reincarnated as an intelligent, powerful sword. Following the success of the first season, which aired from October to December 2022, fans have been eagerly waiting to see where their adventures take them next.
Episode 1 Synopsis: “The Island Floating in the Sky”
After proving their mettle in the fortress city of Alessa, Fran and Teacher set their sights on their next destination: the port town of Daz. However, their journey takes an unexpected detour when they spot a mysterious island floating high up in the sky.
As they try to get closer to investigate, they are suddenly attacked by a skeleton knight and crash-land. Upon falling, they encounter Jean Du Bu, a skilled necromancer who is trying to conquer the floating island’s dungeon. After accepting Jean’s request to assist him, Fran and Teacher prepare to dive into a perilous labyrinth teeming with undead monsters. Thus, a brand-new adventure begins for our favorite cat-eared warrior and her doting sword parent!
