A Lifelong Passion Project for Hideaki Anno
To accompany the announcement, a stunning teaser visual has been released, depicting the iconic Yamato preparing to launch into the cosmos from a desolate, ruined Earth.
For Hideaki Anno, this project is deeply personal. Having fallen in love with the original 1974 series when he was in junior high school, Anno has often credited Space Battleship Yamato as the catalyst for his entire career in animation. Reflecting on this new venture, Anno shared a heartfelt message for the fans:
“I am producing this not just to fulfill a childhood dream, but because we want to continue making Yamato with our prayers and wishes for both the next generation and our own.”
