Exciting news for Kagurabachi fans! The highly anticipated TV anime adaptation, scheduled to premiere in April 2027, has officially announced a major addition to its voice cast. Renowned voice actor Yuichi Nakamura (known for voicing Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen and Bruno Bucciarati in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) will be playing the powerful Kamunabi sorcerer, Soshiro Azami.
Along with the casting announcement, a striking new character visual and a special character promotional video (PV) have been released to showcase Azami’s imposing presence.
Who is Soshiro Azami?
Soshiro Azami is a elite sorcerer belonging to the Kamunabi organization. He is one of the very few individuals who is aware of the existence of the protagonist, Chihiro Rokuhira, which has been kept hidden from the general public. Azami is known for his overwhelming physical strength, capable of crushing opponents with raw power, making him one of the most formidable members of the Kamunabi.
Yuichi Nakamura Binge-Reads the Manga in Excitement!
Upon landing the role, Yuichi Nakamura dove headfirst into Takeru Hokazono’s hit manga and got completely hooked. In his official comment, the veteran voice actor shared his enthusiasm for the series and his character:
“When I auditioned, I read the original manga and felt that modern ‘Jump Spirit’ burning through it. I got so curious about what happens next that I ended up binge-reading all the published volumes! I am incredibly excited to see how those specific scenes will be brought to life in the anime.”
Nakamura also shared his thoughts on Azami’s charm and personality:
- On his impression: “I began my recording sessions by portraying him as someone who is serious but also possesses a slightly dry demeanor.”
- On Azami’s unique appeal: “He feels like a realist, which stands in contrast to the more romanticist Shiba. While he does have emotions, the way he looks at things from a slight distance is very intriguing. I believe he is a character whose charm will shine brighter and brighter as the story unfolds.”

Based on the dark fantasy manga by Takeru Hokazono serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, Kagurabachi has surpassed over 4 million copies in circulation (including digital editions). The anime adaptation is being directed by Tetsuya Takeuchi, with animation production handled by studio Cypic.
