Cats Guarding Cultural Treasures! “Forbidden City Cat Patrol” Kicks Off with a 4-Episode Marathon

A Purr-fect Adventure Begins in the Forbidden City!

Get ready, anime fans! The Japanese dubbed version of the popular animated series “Forbidden City Cat Patrol” (Shikin: Go-Nekobou) is set to premiere on October 10. Inspired by the real-life cats residing in Beijing’s historic Forbidden City, this fantasy adventure brings clever feline guardians to center stage.

To celebrate its premiere, the show is kicking off with a special event—broadcasting Episodes 1 through 4 non-stop in a special marathon on TOKYO MX and BS Nittei, before moving to its regular weekly broadcast schedule.

What is “Forbidden City Cat Patrol”?

Hidden in a quiet corner of the legendary Imperial Palace lies a secret organization known as “Go-Nekobou,” composed of six brave and intelligent cats. Their mission is to enter spiritual realms and protect “Bukko”—the living spirits and memories dwelling within historic cultural treasures—from a destructive villain named Black Owl.

In Episode 1, titled “The Beginning of an Adventure,” Soubi and his cat squad dive into the spirit world of a famous Ming Dynasty wine cup to intercept Black Owl’s evil plot before history itself is damaged.

The Japanese dub boasts an incredible lineup of veteran and rising voice talents:

  • Soubi: Kazuki Ura (Yoichi Isagi in Blue Lock)

  • Zeze: Takeo Otsuka (Aqua Hoshino in Oshi no Ko)
